If I can stop laughing, here's an appreciative round of wild applause, although you won't hear it.

Just stumbled onto your site a few minutes ago. It is a real winner. How can anyone sink into the boggy dingles of despond after reading this? Not me!

Your prose is perfect for the subject. As as retired writer and editor, I know the Good Stuff.

I was pleased to see you haven't -- yet -- included my favorite Kristofferson lyrics. Have to agree with you about his hit, "Sunday Morning Coming Down".

Have bookmarked this site. Will return to it to check for additional songs and critiques.

Is that off his new album? I haven't heard it, don't even know if it's getting radio play. I may have to take a look.

I don't know if you've heard it yet, but you should listen to Charlie Louvin's song "Ira" and the story behind it. Brother of a famous close-harmony duo speaks out after many years about his tragic loss.

Fantastic list. I came across it while looking for songs for a mix CD with the same theme. I will definitely use some of these. I have one I just came across, Johnny Cash's version of "Danny Boy" from the "Orange Blossom Special" album. Made me feel like I was really hearing that song for the first time. Maybe I'm just a sap.

I live for depressing songs...they are necessary. But you missed Luke the Drifter's "Help Me Understand," "Be Careful Of Stones That You Throw," and "Pictures From Life's Other Side" (how in the world can you top the image of a woman leaping from a bridge with her BABY in her arms??).

Thank you for giving me more songs...I think.
